Ultra High-end components and gaming peripherals on display for gamers to enjoy

Manila, Philippines (15^th December 2014) — ASUS Republic of Gamers, in partnership with leading graphics provider, Nvidia, had a successful participation in the TheNet.Com’s gaming event, The Grand Finale 2014, held last December 13 and 14 at the SM North Annex Cyberzone. The ASUS booth showcased the latest technologies in PC gaming and computing, and allowed gamers to enjoy recent demanding games with available high-end setups. ASUS also gave away prizes for gamers participating in the gaming events inside the booth. Participants were also educated about the cost-efficiency of having a graphics card as opposed to that of having none, with a display incorporating the differences in performance between the two.

ASUS Gamer Series

Part of what was focused in the activities in the ROG booth was that of the recently launched Gamer series of motherboards. The Gamer line was just introduced earlier this year and it is targeted on mainstream gamers.

The booth in the event displayed a B85-Pro Gamer, a competitively priced gaming motherboard packed with features that enhance the user’s gaming experience. The motherboard has a built-in SupremeFX audio solution which delivers unprecedented gaming audio, complimented by the Sonic Radar feature, providing users an intuitive display of in-game audio.

ASUS Strix Series

The Strix series is ASUS’ new line of graphics cards and peripherals with the goal of providing gamers with superior performance enhanced with unique features. Displayed inside the booth were Strix headsets, keyboards, and mice, all of which were available for gamers to try and test.

A popular line of graphics cards, the ASUS Strix provides a silent and passive solution to gamers without sacrificing performance. The Strix has a 0dB feature that silences the fans even while playing games, watching movies, and doing work, provided that it still hasn’t reached a certain temperature.

Sykes PopTastic Year End Celebration 2014…

SYKES ends a great year with a POPTASTIC celebration

Ever since SYKES pioneered the business process outsourcing ( BPO ) industry in the Philippines, it has become one the most popular choices of career-seekers. And with the industry growing to unprecedented heights, SYKES has definitely started a popular career movement in this country.

And this is what SYKES POPTASTIC 2014 highlights, the company’s annual Year-End Party Celebration ( YEC ) held last December 14, 2014 at the SMX Convention Center. POPTASTIC boasted of the last song syndrome-inducing music, big prizes, vibrant performances and SYKES employees sporting pop-inspired attire.

It was hosted by the funny and playful Boys Night Out trio of Sam YG, Toni Tony and Slick Rick together with TV host Karen Pamintuan.

Boys Night Out has been one of the hottest radio shows for the past eight years, and the group has been nominated as Yahoo Philippines’ Best Radio Shows for three years in a row. Pamintuan headlines Listed, now on it’s third season and continues to be Lifestyle Network’s flagship and lifestyle authority program.

SYKES Vice President for Philippines Operations Dean Van Ormers says they really leave no stone unturned when it comes to mounting their YEC. “ The YEC is already a part of SYKES calendar-something that our employees look forward to every year. And we make sure it is worth their wait.”

Opening the show are SYKES employees letting it loose to the melody of the year’s biggest pop hits. The highly anticipated and competitive dance competition also featured employees from SYKES’ different business units grooving to different Korean Pop tunes and costumes, adding color and quirk to the festivities.

SYKES Senior Management Leaders Van Omer, Senior Operations Director Marc Guison and Operations Director Kenneth Juarez also surpised everyone with a performance of Robin Thicke’s Blurred Lines, showcasing Western Pop’s signiture swag and savvy style.

And the POPTASTIC highlight is none other than Ely Buendia, widely regarded as one of he most respected Pinoy music icons and biggest pop rock act in the country. He thrilled everyone with his renditions of timeless hits such as Ang Huling El Bimbo, Alapaap and Magasin and currently performs as guitarist and lead vocalist for Pupil and The Oktaves.

Included in the program are the recognition of the 10-year and 15-year service awardees, and the employees club of the year. More than 1.5 Million worth of prizes was also given away ecstatic raffle draw winners.

Around 6,000 employees were in attendance, and held simultaneously with SYKES Cebu’s own Year-End Celebration held at the J. Convention Center.

SYKES Director for Branding and Communications Cecile Moreno-Venancio says the YEC is an opportunity for the company to showcase the culture of support it is very much proud of. “In a company as big as ours, so we make sure that they all feel valued.”

Van Ormer underscores POPTASTIC celebrates the massive growth of the seeds SYKES planted way back in 1997. “ There were no call centers then, but SYKES was already here breaking new ground. The BPO industry is now very, very big – POP in all ways imaginable. It is already something that is enjoyed and appreciated by a very big number of people, and SYKES is very proud to have started it all.”

We got the chance to view and take photo at the same time for the place where SYKES held their Year-End Celebration 2014 at SMX MOA. Me and my blogger friends got inside the venue first. Thank you to Mark Delgado for inviting me, Mars, Ivan and 2 others for the wonderful Christmas party ever had with SYKES.

The performance level are so high, I witness the performance of the first group and I can say that they performed very well without a doubt. The Energy, the Dance Choreography, Costume, Facial Reaction while Dancing and the props are accordingly.

PHILIPPINES, 18 December 2014 – Yahoo Philippines today announced its 2014 Year in Review (YIR), an annual recap of the top trends, happenings and events, which grabbed the attention of Yahoo users in the Philippines. YIR is based on what users searched for through the year, and an editorial selection of what was most read, recommended and shared on Yahoo in 2014.

Yahoo YIR offers insights into what captured the user’s interests across categories like Philippines’ Top 10 Newsmakers, Top Sports Stories, and Global Obsessions, among others.

A perfectly coned-shaped volcano, a TV host’s bedroom shenanigans and a smartphone were among the top searches by Yahoo Philippines users in 2014. However, the strongest typhoon to hit the country this year topped the most searched list. The intensity and path of Typhoon Ruby brought back nightmarish memories brought by Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) last year. The popular animated movie Frozen, an international beauty pageant and the death of a transgender woman also made it to the list of top searches on Yahoo Philippines in 2014.

Last year’s top newsmaker, businesswoman Janet Lim Napoles, the alleged mastermind of the pork barrel scam, is number two on the list as public interest on her personal and health matters continues. Other newsmakers of the year included former first lady Imelda Marcos, actress Nora Aunor, and Senator Miriam Santiago.
