Predator Gaming kicks off the Asia Pacific Predator League 2019 and reveals Alodia Gosiengfiao as the newest Predator Gaming Ambassador

6 October 2018, Manila, Philippines – Predator Gaming has geared up for Asia Pacific Predator League 2019, the region’s biggest world-class gaming tournament, as it officially launched last October at One Esplanade in Pasay City. This milestone event coincides with the reveal of celebrity gamer-slash-cosplay sensation Alodia Gosiengfiao as the newest Predator Gaming Ambassador.

Now on its second year, the Asia Pacific Predator League is the most anticipated eSports competition. Since its inception and maiden run in 2018, the Gaming Tournament has since expanded to include participants from a total of 16 countries: Australia, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Macau, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam – more than double that of last year’s total participants.

This year, Asia Pacific Predator League draws battle lines for two of the biggest and hottest gaming titles: PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) and DOTA 2. Vying for a total prize pool of up to USD 400,000.00 for the whole tournament, competitions and local eliminations will be held to determine champions and representatives for each country, before culminating in Bangkok, Thailand early next year.

To set the tone for the upcoming months of intense gaming and competition, Predator Gaming kicked off the PUBG and DOTA 2 fever in style. Creating a PUBG, DOTA 2, and cosplayer’s paradise in one jampacked event, the immersive affair drew crowds with the DOTA 2 Green Screen GIF Station, where guests were given the chance to pose with their favorite DOTA 2 characters; and the DOTA 2 and PUBG game stations, where brave souls may step into the games’ universe and take a gander at defeating enemies.

Completing the thrilling event and serving as the highlight of the night was the announcement of the Philippines’ biggest cosplay star, Alodia Gosiengfiao, as the Predator Gaming Ambassador. Making a show-stopping entrance as Alodia gushed about her excitement for the Asia Pacific Predator League competition.

“I’m so happy to be joining the Predator Gaming family in time for the Competition,” enthuses Alodia. “What got me into gaming was the incredible camaraderie and the intense passion gaming enthusiasts had, and these are characteristics that are so uniquely innate in the community. I’m so excited to witness these as the tournament unfolds.”

In the Philippines, the tournaments begin with 4 regional qualifiers each for both PUBG and DOTA 2. Powered by TNC Cyber Cafe , the qualifiers will begin this October for PUBG; and in November for DOTA 2.

For PUBG, PHP 15,000.00 and PHP 5,000.00, plus Predator merchandise await the champions and 2^nd placers or the regional qualifiers, respectively. The top 3 from each qualifier will move on to the national finals, where the teams will go head-to-head against each other in a two-day match with 10 rounds, for a chance to win PHP 120,000.00, PHP 40,000.00, and PHP 20,000.00 for the champion, 2^nd placer, and 3^rd placer, respectively.

Meanwhile, for DOTA 2, the winners for each of the regional qualifiers will complete the 4 teams who will be competing, in double elimination format, for PHP 120,000.00, PHP 40,000.00, and PHP 20,000.00, for the champions, 2^nd placers, and 3^rd placers, respectively. The champions will also get chance to battle it out with the TNC Predator, the Philippine DotA pride.

The PUBG national champion and the TNC Predator will be flying to Bangkok, Thailand early next year to vie for the coveted grand prize.

LCS – TierOne Consortium Inks Equity Deal with Broadband Satellite Operator

Announces Q3 2019 launch, offering entire Philippine archipelago access to affordable Internet

Chavit Singson-backed third telco aspirant LCS – TierOne Consortium has announced that it has entered into an agreement to buy equity into an operator of next-generation high throughput broadband satellites.

An agreement was signed abroad on Tuesday by Singson and TierOne Consortium chair Jonathon Bentley-Stevens.

The Consortium did not name the the operator, owing to the highly-sensitive nature of the on-going search for the New Major Player in the country’s telecommunications industry.

With the announced deal, TierOne is now assured that it will be able to provide the entire Philippine archipelago access to satellite-based broadband – at much lower costs.

TierOne additionally revealed that it now also has an earth station gateway – a facility which takes time to set-up – already in place in the country, thus enabling it to quickly use the broadband satellite services.

“We are committed to giving Filipinos the connectivity they need and demand, whether they are from Ilocos in the North, where I am from; to Davao in the South, where Jonathon has been living for decades now,” Singson said.

“Our investment in the satellite operator with a footprint capable of delivering broadband across the archipelago, reflects TierOne’s desire to offer the Highest Committed Level of Service, as mandated by Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) and the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC),” Bentley-Stevens explained.

“This is definitely a game-changer,” Singson declared.

Engr. Ed Millana, president of consortium partner Millawave Systems, which owns and operates a teleport, and delivers satellite communications services, described why the satellite is key for broadband delivery.

According to Millana, their soon-to-launch high-throughput broadband satellite will offer 1.3Gbps of bandwidth per transponder, capable of delivering up to 100Mbps to users.

Its broadband prices will be disruptively low, compared to legacy satellites – lower than the existing wireless broadband offers from the dominant telcos.

“Once launched, our high throughput broadband satellite will offer instant coverage; think of it as a ready network while we rollout the domestic undersea cable backbone, which we still will be largely reliant on – satellite still cannot compare to fiber in terms of capacity and latency, but it’s definitely the most expedient way to connect our entire archipelago” Engr. Millana shares.

Bandwidth from the broadband satellite will be accessed by the LCS – TierOne Consortium’s portable cell sites, called Telcos-In-A-Box – modified, quick-deployable, solar-powered cargo containers with satellite transceivers, WiFi and LTE Radio Access, and retail sales sections – for distribution to surrounding subscribers.

Bentley-Stevens further points out that these satellite-enabled Telcos-In-A-Box will be offered to Filipinos as franchises, democratizing the ownership and delivery of telecommunications services across the country.

“We are 7641 islands, we cannot be running a telco the way it’s been run in the past – we have to rely on new technology like broadband satellite for coverage and on our fellow Filipinos for distribution,” Singson concluded.

The LCS – TierOne Consortium has described itself as a telecommunications ecosystem, with members covering various facets of the business, including engineering, value-added services, and device manufacturing; as well as network services, small-cell antenna manufacture, and tower provision.

Narada enters Ph, partners with IEZ Global and Dios Enterprise MANILA – Narada a global company known for specializing in energystorage, is coming to the Philippines. In a strategic partnership with iEZ Global and Dios enterprise, Narada aims to address the Philippines’ issues with power storage.
