[PR] ASUS Announces Strix GTX 960

Manila, Philippines (22nd January, 2015) — ASUS today announced Strix GTX 960, an all-new gaming graphics card packed with exclusive ASUS technologies, including DirectCU II for cooler, quieter and faster performance for incredible action gaming, and 0dB fan technology for totally-silent light gameplay.

The new card features exclusive ASUS Super Alloy Power components for enhanced durability and cooling, and GPU Tweak with XSplit Gamecaster for overclocking and online streaming that’s as simple as it is flexible. Strix GTX 960 comes equipped with a DisplayPort interface to support connections up to 4K/UHD (ultra-high definition) resolution.

Strix GTX 960 is factory-overclocked at 1291 MHz and has a 1317 MHz boost clock speed in OC Mode that delivers stunning gaming performance. It provides 12% faster gameplay in Assassin’s Creed® Unity and Battlefield 4, and runs the 3DMark 11 (Extreme) benchmark at 1920 x 1080 Full HD resolution 6.5% faster than reference designs. It is fitted with 2 GB of high-speed GDDR5 video memory that races along at boosted speeds of up to 7200MHz.

Enjoy performance 30% cooler and 3X quieter than reference

Strix GTX 960 comes with the ASUS-exclusive DirectCU II cooling technology that provides 220% more heat dissipation, resulting in performance that is 30% cooler and 3X quieter than reference for incredible stability and very low noise during intense gaming sessions.

Strix ups the ante even more with 0dB fan technology that lets players enjoy light gaming in complete silence, due to a thermal design that is able to keep GPU temperatures below a set level, when the fan stops completely.

Enhancing cooling even further, Strix GTX 960 has a strong, rigid backplate that helps dissipate heat quickly and provides an extra measure of protection against card damage.

Power up for the win with 5-phase Super Alloy Power

Strix GTX 960 has a 5-phase power design that enhances energy efficiency by 15%, widens voltage modulation tolerance, and improves overall stability and longevity by 2.5X compared to reference designs. Strix GTX 960 uses a single 6-pin power connecter for clean, hassle-free cable management and has a convenient connection indicator LED to ensure successful plug-in.

Real-time monitoring and control with GPU Tweak

Strix GTX 960 comes with GPU Tweak, an exclusive ASUS tool that enables users to squeeze the very best performance from their graphics card. GPU Tweak provides the ability to finely control GPU speeds, voltages and video memory clock speeds in real time, so overclocking is easy and can be carried out with high confidence.

GPU Tweak also includes a customized version of the XSplit Gamecaster streaming tool and a free one-year free XSplit Premium license.[1] XSplit Gamecaster lets users record and share on-screen action over the internet in real time, meaning others can watch live as games are played. Gamers can also easily monitor system stats, such as frame rate, CPU load, temperature, and more, while they play, as well as modify performance settings with a simple click of the GPU Tweak button.

Strix GTX 960 will be available on mid-February 2015 and will have an SRP 13,330.

Solar energy enters tourism

Costa Pacifica 03

Solar energy enters tourism business in the Philippines

Makati, 7 January 2015 — With an average of six hours sunshine per day the Philippines is not only a popular destination for vacationers, but also a convenient location for solar power plants. In Baler, the provincial capital of Aurora, now both aspects get together: the hotel Costa Pacifica is going to let a solar power plant be installed on its rooftop. For that purpose they consulted the expertise of the renewable energy company PV2 Energie.

The German company planned a solar power plant that enables the hotel to produce a substantial part of the power it needs on its own. Very soon, the hotel will obtain power from its own roof. “The solar power plant will cover most of our electricity needs during daytime”, summarizes Edgardo J. Angara, owner of Costa Pacifica and former senator. This world class resort is one of the first hotels in the Philippines that will make use of solar energy.

Costa Pacifica 02

The recently build hotel located on Sabang Beach was already planned with a rooftop that is suitable to accommodate a solar power plant: the roof is oriented in a way that avoids shading and further has a structural engineering that enables it to carry the solar plant. “At Costa Pacifica we found ideal conditions for the installation of a solar plant, but this is not necessary. We can build solar plants on most rooftypes that are commonly used in the Philippines”, explains Chris Hannen from PV2 Energie. The plant will cover a surface of 1000 m2 and therefore is estimated to produce 140 kWp (kilowatt-peak). That corresponds to a yearly production of energy of approximately 196,000 kWh (kilowatt hour). The plant shall be installed before summer 2015.

“For us it was of great importance to work together with an experienced company, which we found in PV2 Energie”, says Cynthia Garcia-Eidell, hotel manager of Costa Pacifica. The first contact between the hotel and the renewable energy company was in summer 2014. For PV2 Energie this project is one of the first steps it makes in the Philippines. The company has been an active player in the solar business in Germany for years. Now it is one of the first German renewable energy companies that opens a Philippine-based establishment. The two share-holding associates Chris Hannen and Phillip Küpper agree: “When it comes to solar energy we see the Philippines as an important marketplace for the next years.” More information about PV2 Energie: ###

I got bored so I decided to disassemble my Cherry Mobile G2 Smartwatch. It has a Mediatek ARM processor and a 4GB MicroSD, thou I’m expecting to see a flash memory. It’s my first time to see a very small camera module, about more than a half of a centimeter. There’s also a built-in button type RTC battery, mic and mono speaker.” Said: Christopher Misola
