Here’s another interesting product Cherry Mobile, a good alternative to the popular and more expensive action camera, the Cherry Action Cam Explorer 2 is affordable, compact, functional and it is the world’s first Smart Action camera that features Android as its Operating Systems.

The Cherry Action Cam Explorer 2 is the 2nd generation of Cherry Mobile action camera series, but this time, this camera comes with Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box, yes folks it has Android OS and has this 2.4 Inch HD touch display so it can be us as a regular Android device.

Just like the 1st gen of Cherry Mobile action cam, it has similar packaging, the box contained the accessories you need to get started on your adventure with this camera.

inside the box contains the  Action Cam Explorer 2 and the waterproof case, while in a separate box is where the accessories.

The camera has a compact body and it lightweight, In terms of design is has rectangular body shape which is easy to hold, its made of hard polycarbonate plastic material.

At the front of the Explorer 2 is the 12MP wide angle lens camera, power button, mode button, LED light (charging indicator). This time, the faceplate is not replaceable but it comes is different colors like the one we have which is silver.

The Explorer 2 comes with 1050mAh battery, which is good for more than 1 hour of video recording with the WiFi on, but you might get longer recording hours by turning off its WiFi, Bluetooth, and Location services.

At the top of the camera are the shutter button and the LED activity light, while at the bottom is the battery compartment , speaker, and surprisingly another LED light.

The Explorer 2 is the first action cam to have Android as its Operating Systems, so this means you can install apps since it comes with 8GB memory, powered by 1.3GHz Quad-core CPU, and 1GB RAM. It comes pre-loaded with Facebook, Instagram, OneDrive, Xender and Periscope apps, but if you want more you can always download your apps at Google Play Store.

First Impressions

In terms of design, the Explorer 2 has nice built, the body has a solid design with nicely placed buttons to easily access its functions. It comes with 12MP with 170 degrees wide angle lens camera which is great since you can capture more with this camera, it can record up to 1080p at 30fps videos. The camera app is easy to use even with the use of the hardware button.

The 2.4-inch screen has a 2-point multitouch capability which is good since you can easily zoom the photos you took so that you can review it before posting it on your social media accounts. Like we said earlier this camera comes with Android, so you can install some light games and other apps on it. We’re able to install and play games like slither.io and Duterte Fighting Crime 2 without problems.
