Zalora and Smart e-Money launched MePay, the latest in Philippine online and Mobile Payments

Now Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart), with their mobile money service Smart e-Money, Inc. (SMI) and in partnership with Zalora Philippines, the fashion brand of Rocket Internet, has launched a breakthrough electronic and mobile payments platform for people who wants to shop online even without the use of credit card. MePay, the new payments platform that only requires any Philippine mobile number upon sign-up, will now allow for secure and convenient ONLINE SHOPPING WITH Zalora even for customers without a credit card.

“Today, with the launch of MePay, we are kicking it a notch higher and taking e-Commerce to the next level by opening up the platform to merchants, big or small, so they can easily accept electronic and mobile payments from their customers,” Fernandez said. “We are aggressively rolling out the MePay platform across more online merchants in the Philippines, as well as activating the ability to add more fund sources in the months to come,” Fernandez added.
Initially available in the Philippines, MePay will soon give a robust and effective payments platform for emerging markets like the Philippines, especially those countries with low banking and credit card penetration.
Getting your MePay Account is very easy! All you need is just your mobile number, and Legal name (first name, last name) and create your password and security question (and corresponding answer). Then Click “Agree and create my account”.
You will shortly receive an SMS notification containing the mobile verification code. Input the code on the website and click “Verify mobile number”. Once your done wait for the Php 100 to be credit to your account so that you can start shopping at Zalora. MePay can now be used with online lifestyle portal Zalora (www.zalora.com.ph), a Rocket Internet company operating in the Philippines, as part of the series of collaborations with the global Internet firm following PLDT’s strategic investment in the company back in August. During this launch “sneak peek” of MePay, Zalora is offering 25% off for shoppers if they checkout using MePay during the Christmas Season.
For the launch, MePay users can initially link their Smart Money funds to their accounts, or “top up” their MePay wallets through the expansive network of more than 30,000 Smart Money Padala Centers nationwide, more than the branch networks of all banks and pawnshops combined, here’s the complete list of Money Palada Centers. Upon checkout of your shopping card, choose MePay as your payment method.

You will be redirected to the MePay page, Enter your mobile number and password, then click “Next”

Review the details of your shopping. Click “Yes” if you want to proceed with the transaction.

Confirmation details will be shown on the page, along with the reference number.

You will also receive an email containing all of the details of your purchase transaction.

Payment is now complete.
For now you can use MePay on Zalora, but they are adding more partners, some of them are Easy Taxi, Food Panda, ClickBus, TripDa, and more. Not only that MePay can also be use to pay your utilities bills soon.
